Strikers Sports Pub has been well established as for 8 years in the Nana Area, and has recently re-invented itself with the addition of a professional kitchen and the commencement of world-renowned head chef Mr. Kip Oxman who was behind the runaway success of Hemmingway’s restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 14 as well as Monsoon and Viva restaurants on Sukhumvit Soi 8.
With the welcome changes, the popular venue is now formally known as Strikers Sports Pub & Restaurant and is home to the same special service from all the attentive staff that keeps customers coming back. Indeed it is the warm welcome and the friendship with staff members that has arguably been the secret of its success over the years. It is known as having a strong reputation as a fun place for all people of all backgrounds and bestows a sense of family between staff and customers rarely found in other places.
Strikers was originally located on the front of Nana Plaza but when the lease expired in 2012 the venue moved 100 metres along the Soi to the Rajah Hotel Complex. The move provided extra floor space and this enabled Strikers to increase the number of Brunswick pool tables from two to six. Strikers quickly became the largest and most popular bar in Soi Nana.
Attractive Coyote dancers were brought in and were a welcome sight for customers. Thai sensitivities were respected and the dancers wore longer sleeves and were taken from the bar onto the customers’ main floor. Customers enjoyed interacting with the dancers and they fitted in well with the overall friendly atmosphere of the place.
Since the new location was in the grounds of the hotel and was away from any other building surrounded by open space, Strikers became known as the only island style bar in Bangkok.
However the winds of change arrived again and after four more years, the Raja Hotel announced major renovations were to take place. In November 2016, Strikers moved to the grounds of the famous Nana Hotel, just 100 meters opposite from its original location. It can be found just to the right of the hotel as viewed from the soi. It is on the 2nd floor of a three-story building. The front wall has been opened up to give the open-air feel that customers have come to enjoy.
Since it is approximately the same size as the Rajah location, the six Brunswick pool tables fit comfortably and there are also front and back beer counters as well as a third beer counter overlooking the show kitchen, an open kitchen where you can watch the works of the master chef.
Strikers Pub & Restaurant has made an immediate success of its new home and has had one major pool competition since opening with more to come. It also sponsors of the Muay Thai Boxing held at the Ambassador Hotel and will hold official weigh-ins and after parties for those special events.
It is now easier to find than it has ever been, since it is at the opening of Soi Nana, with an easy to spot, brightly lit venue sign in orange letters.
Great staff. Great menu. Great tables. And a great view of the Sukhumvit Nana area. A worthwhile visit if you already haven’t been.
