Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Channel 7 are proud to announce the return of the premiere ladies’ professional golf tournament, the “Honda LPGA Thailand 2014”, which runs from February 20th to 23rd, 2014, at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course. The world’s Top 60 women golfers by prize earnings and 10 exemptions will compete in the 72-hole tournament with no cut to share in the prize money of 1.5 million USD, or 46 million THB, with a special hole-in-one prize on the par-3 16th hole of a new Honda Accord 2.4 EL worth 1.66 million THB.
According to Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Executive Vice President of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., “As part of the Honda LPGA Thailand 2014 ladies professional golf tournament, we have initiated the ‘Honda LPGA Thai Fashion Design Contest’ to find the best short evening dress design using Thai fabrics under the ‘Smart & Trendy Look’ concept. The initiative welcomes independent designers and students to show off their potential as quality Thai designers, demonstrating the unrivalled elegance of Thai fabrics and the pride in being part of this international ladies’ golf tournament. The winning entries will be shown in a fashion show during the Honda LPGA Charity Night. An auction for famous golf collectibles will also take place at the charity night event and all earnings from the event, with no deductions, will go to the Queen’s Silapacheep Foundation.
“Honda launched the micro site www.hondalpga.com for Thai people and golf fans to stay updated on the progress of the tournament; join many online quiz games and activities to win free tickets to the tournament; guess the 2014 champions; follow up on news and activities throughout the tournament; learn more about the rules of golf; enjoy lifestyle articles about watching golf; and view the Honda LPGA Collection of souvenirs from the golf competition,” added Pitak.
Mr. Palakorn Somsuwan, Managing Director of Bangkok Broadcasting & TV Co., Ltd. and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said, “Channel 7, as the promoter of the tournament for eight years, is very proud of the Honda LPGA Thailand. It has been very exciting and satisfying to watch it grow in stature each year since our first event in 2006. The tournament has attracted the world’s best golfers to play here, which demonstrates that the quality and standard of our golf tournament in Thailand is comparable to the other world-class golf tournaments in the region, from the organization and hospitality extended to all officials and golfers to the perfect condition of Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course. We firmly believe that the Honda LPGA Thailand 2014 tournament will be much more impressive, exciting and challenging than the previous years. In addition, the last seven Honda LPGA Thailand tournaments have served as a platform for the development of women’s golf in Thailand. We have provided an opportunity for young Thai golfers to play alongside the world’s best at the tournament and to compete at the highest level of women’s golf. Again in 2014, we will definitely extend invitations to some young Thai golfers to join the tournament.”
“In addition, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has contributed one million baht cash to the Thailand Ladies Golf Association in order to support the development of youth golf in Thailand and produce a new generation of high-performance professional golfers,” concluded Pitak.
