Over the last 2 months we have discussed the 3 steps to SEO success and this month we come to part 3 – outreach & relationship building.
Just like a bricks and mortar business needs referrals and recommendations so does an online business. You need to make sure that your customers can say as many good things about you in as many places as possible. Of course this can backfire if you get negative feedback so also be sure to keep an eye on your online reputation.
You can do this by listing your business in as many local and industry related directories as possible such as yelp.com, whitepages.com and any other directories which are particularly relevant to your industry.
You can also list your business in the directory section of the Thailand Business Supplement and get exposure to all of their readers both in print and online.
An important factor of outreach & relationship building is links, in this article we will show you how to find relevant content online and reach out to them for a link.
For example, if you have written an article on your real estate website about home maintenance you can search on Google for other related articles which may benefit from linking to your article.
You can do this by searching for the following query string – blog:home maintenance
If you only want to find content in your specific location, you can add the location at the end
blog:home maintenance thailand, although there may not be as many results.
Then visit the websites in the search results, if the content is relevant and not competitive then find their contact details on the website and reach out to them for a link.
The secret is to not ask for a link straight away, first email them and ask if they would be interested in reading your article. If the response is positive, send it over and ask for the comments, when you get positive feedback then you can ask for the link as you have already started to build a relationship with them.
To help you get started you can use these email outreach templates – https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/link-building-email-templates
And then create your own when you become more confident.
