GrabTaxi, Southeast Asia’s largest taxi booking mobile app officially launched GrabCar; a premium service that enables users to book a chauffeured-car via their smartphone, following a successful beta trial. GrabCar tripled its growth rate in just three months, and is expected to remain on an accelerated path with the introduction of its new pricing structure.

The GrabCar service, that includes Camry, Teana, Accord, Fortuner, and Mercedes Benz in its fleet, provides the same safety standard and convenience that is synonymous with GrabTaxi.

GrabCar operates on the same mobile application platform as GrabTaxi, ensuring a seamless experience for customers wanting the choice of booking taxis or chauffeured services in Bangkok. GrabCar is also available on the GrabTaxi app in Singapore, The Philippines and Malaysia (where it is known as MyTeksi).

“GrabCar provides passengers in Thailand with all of the perks of car ownership minus the hassle. Many of our commuters say they don’t have to worry about car insurance and maintenance or experience the stress of driving,” said GrabCar Deputy General Manager, Vichakorn Varavarn Na Ayudhaya.

“GrabCar delivers you from doorstep to doorstep so you don’t have to worry about parking and stressful driving conditions in Bangkok- simply leave the driving to us. Safety remains our biggest priority. We work closely with the Department of Land Transport to thoroughly screen and train our drivers,” added Vichakorn.

Accessible and Transparent Pricing

GrabCar aims to be affordable and accessible for all occasions. Besides everyday rides to offices, schools or for meetings or casual outings, passengers can use GrabCar as the perfect transport solution for special occasions like weddings, as well as for chauffeuring guests and corporate executives around town.

“GrabCar’s rates and charges are transparent. Passengers know the exact fare before embarking on their journey. There are no hidden charges, surcharges or rush hour rate. There are no surprises. We are open and honest with our commuters who will always know how much they will be paying with GrabCar,” explained Vichakorn.

The base fare of GrabCar starts at Baht 75, with Baht 12.5 per kilometer for the first 10 kilometers and Baht 13.5 per kilometer for succeeding kilometers.

GrabCar has also introduced a one-way flat fee of Baht 600 from any part of Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi airport.

Book A GrabCar In Advance

To make a booking, passengers select “GrabCar” as their “car type” in the GrabTaxi app. They will receive the estimated fare of their journey prior to their booking confirmation, and payment is in cash. GrabCar is also the only taxi booking mobile app in Bangkok to offer advance bookings. Passengers may book a premium car up to 2 hours and no more than 7 days in advance. This is especially popular for rides to the airport.
