More to Shenanigans than just good food and drink
Shenanigans is one of the best-known and certainly well-established ‘pubs’ in the Pattaya-Jomtien area. It’s location in Jomtien, inside the Jomtien Condotel complex and just 200 metres up from the Dongtan police box, is ideal in terms of location and definitely a plus in terms of parking availability, which, given the amount of traffic these days, can be a major factor when people are planning a night out.
Shenanigans is celebrating its eighth year this year, and that longevity in this marketplace indicates it has been doing something right. There are a number of reasons why Shenanigans has become such a popular and regular venue for many locals and regular visitors.
Among those reasons are the variety of daily specials from the extensive menu, with a different special meal deal every day of the week. Some of these daily and regular specials include ‘all you can eat’ baby back ribs on a Tuesday; 99-baht soups, satays, burgers and salads on a Wednesday; a special of the day on Thursday (at the time of going to press this was currently fish and chips, but a planned Indian curries special is next on this list); while Friday is soup and steak night. Shenanigans is also highly rated for its carveries on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday night Shenanigans hosts an extremely well-run and popular quiz hosted by William Danson. There are usually from 10 to 14-plus teams of between two and no more than six people in each who battle it out for a 1,000 baht overall prize as well as a series of free drinks rounds. There is also an accumulator jackpot held at the end of the quiz and, at the time of going to press, this had reached a substantial 14,000 baht. The quiz is currently in its fourth year and is as much fun as it is often challenging.
William Danson is also an entertainer who plays every Friday and Sunday night from 7-10:00pm, featuring a selection of hits from such artists as the Beach Boys, Beatles, Shadows and many other hits from the 1960s, 70s and into the 80s. William has his own top-notch PA system and does all his own backing tracks.
Between Monday and Friday, Shenanigans has draught beer promotions with Heineken and Tiger priced at just 99 baht while a pint of Guinness is just 199 baht.
Another big drawcard for Shenanigans is that they show all major sports on 14 large TVs dotted around the venue, and it includes showing live horse racing from both the United Kingdom and Australia. Basically, if it’s being televised, then Shenanigans will have it live, and you can sit back in air-conditioned comfort and watch it all unfold.
For those who want to catch up on all the news that is news, there is a selection of the printed editions of each day’s international newspapers.
As the management like to say, ‘When it comes to sport, comfort, and value for your money, there’s only one place to go!!’
