La Cantina carves a fine Italian niche in the capital

La Cantina Restaurant, located in Soi 16, is within walking distance of the Asok BTS and interchange station with the MRT. Another major plus for La Cantina is that it is directly opposite the popular Foodland Supermarket, making it highly visible to the supermarket’s customers.

Locals and regulars to the Foodland Supermarket can’t help but notice La Cantina and there’s no doubt once someone has tried dining there either for lunch or dinner, or simply wandered in for a coffee and a snack, they’ll be back again. According to one review by the website Restaurants of Bangkok and TripAdvisor, La Cantina ‘is one of the brightest’ of the trattoria-style Italian eateries in the capital.

This is a 35-seat restaurant, so, not so big that it becomes like a food hall, and not so small that it misses the chance to create a cosy ambience.

The “cantina” is derived from the Italian word for a cellar or winery. It is also an underground room, below the house, used to store such valuable products like ham and salami, or wine.

The La Cantina Restaurant concept is to produce 100 percent fresh, homemade food, from pastas and breads to rich and multi-coloured salads, and mouth-watering desserts, using the best local and imported ingredients. These are prepared with care and attention, offering the best and the highest tradition of quality, freshness and healthiness.

Well aware that ‘we are what we eat’, the La Cantina philosophy is to focus both on the quality and freshness of their meals, from entrée to main to dessert, all the while keeping an eye on creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

La Cantina makes its own bread and focaccia on site, fresh each day. There are plenty of people who love the smell and taste of fresh bread, and you won’t get any fresher than what’s available at La Cantina. They also make their own pastas, like ravioli and tagliatelle.

Their signature dishes include lentil soup, parma salad, fettucine pesto, gnocchi saffron and sausage, lamb shanks, and saffron sole as well as desserts such as tiramisu and chocolate mousse.

From snacks to familiar dinners and small celebrations, a corporate lunch or intimate meal in the comfort of “home style” or a simple of afternoon cake and 100 percent Arabica coffee or loose tea, La Cantina Restaurant also give importance to a distinct wine selections.

They can cater for an intimate dinner for two, to a corporate lunch or presentation dinner. The wine list is extensive. Yet they also have fresh juices, made every day with organic vegetables and fruits. There are daily specials which are always popular and with an emphasis on friendly and efficient service it’s no surprise this restaurant is one of the leaders in its field.

La Cantina is open Monday to Saturday from 11:00am until 10:00pm. They also offer a take away service and special productions for your party or celebration are also available.
