Huay Yai Riverside’s boutique attraction

As the Pattaya environs expand, many developers are on the lookout for areas which might have been overlooked, or that represent an opportunity to create something a little different and special.

One company which fits into the latter group is Fahit Ltd. The unusual name is really an acronym meaning ‘Find a Home in Thailand’. Started by Dutch entrepreneur Lex Granaada, Fahit Ltd has just completed its first signature project in the Pattaya area, the Huay Yai Riverside.

Located 20 kilometres south of Pattaya, and nine kilometres from the beachside, the Huay Yai Riverside, as the name must surely suggest, lies on the banks of a cosy little stream, surrounded by lush vegetation and tranquil countryside. Not everyone who comes to live in Pattaya is looking for a beachside residence, or a place that overlooks the sea. There are plenty of people for whom the jungle-like surrounds of an Asian forest are as equally attractive as a golden sand beach outlook.

As Lex notes, “First we were inspired by the beauty of the land, then we became in awe of the serenity, tranquility, and peace of this rural environment. Then we realized that it was in the middle of the fastest-growing industrial triangle in Thailand.”

The environment of which Lex talks is surrounded by coconut palms as well as banana and mango trees; rustic yet productive.

He continued, “Then it dawned on us that Pattaya was only 20 kilometres away. And there are schools, top-class medical care, shopping, entertainment, and beaches.”

So, his company Fahit Ltd set out to build a small but meticulously series of attractive villas, the aim being to appeal to a certain discerning sector of the buying public.

The end result is five plots with free-standing villas on each, the smallest covering an area of 525 square metres.

All are three-bedroom villas ranging in size from 212 square metres of living space to 340 square metres. The villas are constructed to a high European standard with steel reinforced concrete, suspended gypsum ceilings, wooden doors, 220 volt, grounded electricity, air-conditioning, fully-fitted kitchens (including an oven) and bathrooms.

The compound is gated and guarded 24-hours a day and each house is set in such a way to offer plenty of privacy to its residents.

The company gives a guarantee on workmanship of five years and a one-year ‘small defects’ cover as well. They also have a variety of service packages to make life even easier for buyers, from swimming pool maintenance to gardening, maid recruiting and the like.

Lex said, “Each plot has its own Chanote title and you have the option of setting up a Thai company to own the house and land, or taking out a 30-year lease, with an additional prepaid extension of 30 years each, thereby getting a 90-year lease overall.”

Prices for the Huay Yai Riverside start at 8.95 million baht, with the most expensive of the five plots at 14.95 million baht. Given the recent strengthening of many foreign currencies vis-à-vis the Thai baht over the last few months, it looks like now is a good time to be taking advantage of that.
